C-Suite Survey on Canada's Economic Outlook
October, 2009
The quarterly C-Suite Survey of over 155 chief executive officers, chief financial officers and chief operating officers was conducted in September, 2009 by the Gandalf Group. The survey was published by The Globe and Mail and Business News Network, with sponsorship by KPMG.
Summary of Findings
In less than six months, Canadian executives' forecast for the economy has reversed and is most positive
- 67 percent believe that the economy predict growth versus decline. In comparison, last quarter less than one in five believed this.
Expectations for the Canadian economy are most positive with growth expected over the next twelve months.
- 85 percent of respondents from across Canada believe that the economy will experience moderate growth.
Access to credit and financing has improved aver the last six months.
- Those companies in the resource sector have experienced the greatest growth in access to capital.
Canadian executives agree that the pensions system is facing a crisis in which today's workers will not have enough to live on during retirement.
- 44 percent of respondents indicated that they have a pension plan in place.
