Resource Income — Finance Tables Legislation to Enact New Tax Regime

The Department of Finance tabled a Notice of Ways and Means Motion (“the June Notice”) in Parliament on June 9, 2003 to implement a five-year package of measures to improve the taxation of resource income. These measures were first outlined in the February 18, 2003 federal budget, and details were provided in the March 3, 2003 technical paper “Improving the Income Taxation of the Resource Sector in Canada”. The Notice tabled in Parliament closely follows the proposals set out in the technical paper.
